He spent five years working as a GP in Karachi where he single-handedly ran an urban practice of some 2,000 patients.

Since moving to the UK he has gained a Professional Certificate in Managing Health Services, a postgraduate diploma in Management Studies and an MBA. He is also a member of the Royal College of General Practitioners. Sajid has worked for St. George’s and Queen Mary’s Hospitals in Obstetrics, Gynaecology, A&E and Minor Surgery and still does weekly sessions at the University Hospital Lewisham A&E department. He is also currently training to acquire a postgraduate diploma in ENT.

In October 2005, Dr Patel was part of a volunteer medical relief team who flew to Pakistan to assist in the aftermath of the earthquake. Dr Patel was also a Director at Medical Referrals International for six years. He has lived in Wandsworth for 19 years and his interests include table-tennis and cricket.
