About Online Access
If you wish to, you can now use the internet to book some appointments with a clinician, request repeat prescriptions for any medications you take regularly and look at your medical record online. You can also still use the telephone or call in to the surgery for any of these services as well.
Being able to see your record online might help you to manage your medical conditions. It also means that you can access it from anywhere in the world should you require medical treatment on holiday.
The service is open 24/7/365 and can be accessed from your home computer, Tablet or Mobile phone.
The following services are available to all registered patients:
- Book / Cancel Appointments (Non-GP Appointments)
- Order Repeat Prescriptions
- View Medical Records
- Update Address Details
Adult Proxy Access
If you want to request for or give access to your online medical record via adult proxy access, you can find more information on https://www.nhs.uk/apply-for-proxy on how to request it.
You need to prove who you are to get full access to the NHS App. With full access you can:
- order repeat prescriptions and nominate a pharmacy where you would like to collect them
- book and manage appointments
- view your GP health record to see information like your allergies and medicines (if your GP has given you access to your detailed medical record, you can also see information like test results)
- book and manage coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccinations
- get your NHS COVID Pass (there are also other ways to get your COVID Pass)
- register your organ donation decision
- choose how the NHS uses your data
- view your NHS number (find out what your NHS number is)
- use NHS 111 online to answer questions and get instant advice or medical help near you
Before proving who you are, you can use the NHS App to:
- search trusted NHS information and advice on hundreds of conditions and treatments
- find NHS services near you
If you have already signed up for Online Services, you can now access Appointment Booking, Repeat Prescriptions, Change your Details and view your Test Results* via the App on your phone or by the NHS App website.
Who can use the NHS App?
To use the NHS App or log in through the NHS website you must be:
- aged 13 or over
- registered with an NHS GP surgery in England or the Isle of Man
If you’re aged 13 to 15 years old
You’ll need to contact your GP surgery and request access to GP online services before you can use the NHS App.
If you cannot set up an account, it may be because:
- You’re registered at a GP surgery outside of England or the Isle of Man
Contact your surgery to find out which online health services you can use. - You’re a member of the armed forces, or are a veteran, service leaver or non-mobilised reservist
If you’re registered at a surgery provided by Defence Medical Services (DMS), you cannot currently use the NHS App.
